TWO MEISSEN PUTTI. Mid 19th-first quarter 20th century, German. First with quiver of arrows over his shoulder, both hands with extended fingers in front of his face, partially clad in lavender cloth. Posed on rockwork plinth mounted on marbleized socle. Incised “123” and impressed “121”. Marked in black paint “7”. With crossed swords in underglaze blue. Second posed at trunk of tree inspecting remnants of an object in left arm, discarded bow at his feet. Posed on rockwork plinth mounted on marbleized socle. Incised “L 118” and impressed “14”. With crossed swords in underglaze blue. SIZE: 1) 8″ h. 2) 7-1/4″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: 1) Loss to two middle fingers left hand, otherwise very good. 2) Lost object in left arm, loss of quiver on right side, lost to left wing, damage to bow on ground, otherwise fair. 9-24527 (800-1,200)
