CHARLES II CARVED OAK ARMCHAIR IN THE CROMWELLIAN TASTE. Late 17th/early 18th century. The bobbin- and spool-turned double gallery back with central turned pediment, flanked by turned stiles surmounted by suppressed ball finials, joined to spool-turned arms on baluster-turned frontal supports continuing to legs centering a trapezoidal seat frame now fitted with a plank seat, the whole with a simple box stretcher and three frontal cylindrical supports. SIZE: 34-3/4″ h. of back x 17-3/4″ h. of seat x 21-1/2″ overall w. CONDITION: Very good original condition, with coffee coloring and good patina. Plank seat later addition. 9-99061 (500-700)
