RARE AMERICAN PAINT-DECORATED PILLBOX CARVED FROM THE SOLID. Mid-19th century. The circular box with conforming lid, polychrome-painted with concentric circles, the bottom section painted with vertical stripes. This unusual treen example fashioned from the cross-section of a tree branch. SIZE: 1-1/2″ h. x 2-1/2″ dia. CONDITION: Very good overall, with original painted surfaces. One 1/4″ section of inner rim broken out and missing, visible only when box is opened. 9-99376 (250-350)
