AMERICAN TOLE DOCUMENT BOX. Third quarter 19th- century. Probably Pennsylvania. The tin box with domed lid fitted with carrying handle and latch, the borders with gilt S-scrolled decoration. The box decorated with a polychrome floral sprig, the ends each decorated with a gilt foliate spray, all on a black ground. SIZE: h. 6-1/2″ x l. 9-1/3″ x d. 6″ CONDITION: Structurally very good. Original paint intact with some losses to proper right side of lid, bottom rim of box and two spots at back of box. 9-99916 (500-700)
