GEORGE JEAN MARIE HAQUETTE (French, 1854-1906) THE MUSSEL GATHERERS. Oil on canvas French coastal scene shows two young women having recently gathered a large basket of muscles cleaning them in a low tidal pool. Other women are seen in background against calm water and blue and white cloud sky. On reverse of stretcher is a French label. Housed in what appears to be its original fancy gilt gesso decorated frame with linen liner. SIZE: 16-1/4″ x 13″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-97352 (800-1,200)
