STENCIL & PAINT DECORATED BOSTON ROCKING CHAIR W/ARMS. 2nd quarter 19th century. The shaped pillow crest stencil-decorated with floral spray continuing to stencil-decorated rolled ears above seven grained and paint-decorated spindles joined to the shaped rolled plank seat decorated with mustard feather graining and stenciled floral decoration. The unusual rolled seat with ball finials, the shaped arms with rolled grips, the turned legs joined by a box stretcher. Rocker additionally decorated overall with yellow and bright green outlines. SIZE: 45″ h. x 24″ w. CONDITION: With all original decoration, largely intact. Seat back with some early restoration. Overall very good, showing normal and acceptable wear. 9-99163 (250-400)
