EARLY AMERICAN NEW ENGLAND CORNER CHAIR. Late 18th/early 19th century, probably Connecticut, made of maple, birch and chestnut. The curved stepped crest rail joined to the conforming continuous arm terminating in circular handgrips, raised on three baluster-turned stiles continuing to turned cylindrical legs, all joined to a square seat rail with splint-woven seat. The legs joined by double box stretcher, the whole raised on ball feet. SIZE: 29″ h. of back x 17-1/2″ h. of seat rail x 28-1/4″ w. overall. CONDITION: Structurally very good, with losses to splint seat. Chair retains old surfaces. 9-99055 (400-600)
