SET OF 8 QUEEN ANNE CENTENNIAL WALNUT CHAIRS. Late 19th century. Comprised of two armchairs and six side chairs. Each chair with a yoked crest rail above the vasiform splat joined to the trapezoidal slip seat with molded rail. The armchairs with shaped shepherd’s crook arms, raised on frontal cabriole legs with c-scrolled volutes and shaped returns. The knees carved with a shield; joined by block and baluster turned recessed boxed stretcher. SIZE: (armchair) 40-1/4″h; (seat) 17-1/2″h; (side chair) 38-1/4″h. CONDITION: Chairs retain original finish. 1) Proper right rear leg, broken and re-glued stretcher. 2) Old insect damage, proper left side front seat rail. Old damages proper right front leg and back. 3) Missing proper right front leg return, break, split at juncture of splat to crest rail. 4) Very good overall. 5) Old stress crack, splat at crest rail. Professionally re-carved return, front proper left leg, otherwise very good. 6) Old minor insect damage seat rail, otherwise very good. 7) Armchair with old repaired break proper right return front. Arms strengthened and re-attached, need color match. 8) Armchair with proper left stile diagonal break in arm, otherwise very fine and pristine condition. These quality chairs with very nice graining, numbered and fully restorable. 9-93252 (2,000-3,000)
