PAIR OF NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY LADDER-BACK SIDE CHAIRS. Mid-18th century. Each having three conforming pierced serpentine slats with C-scrolled volutes, the ears carved with leaftips, above the overupholstered trapezoidal seat, raised on square molded frontal legs and backswept rear legs joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: Each 37″ h. of back. CONDITION: Very good overall. Retaining rich reddish-brown color. Professional repairs to center slat on one chair, otherwise very good. 9-94437 (900-1,200)
