GROUP OF FOUR SCRIMSHAW ITEMS. Mid-20th century, New England. Including a cylindrical needle case and thread holder in two parts scrimmed with the great seal of the United States and sperm whales titled “Ship JUNIOR of New Bedford” dated 1857. A scrimmed miniature globe. A small tooth with a side wheel steamer titled “ALECTO” dated 1845. And a whale’s tooth titled “KANE & COMRADES IN THEIR VESSEL” depicting three sailors in their furs. The reverse with seven lines of prose. SIZE: Globe: 1-3/4″ dia. Case: 6-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From a private California collection.
