GROUP OF FOUR SCRIMSHAW ITEMS. Mid-19th/20th century, New England. Includes two pair of opera glasses scrimmed with Naval anchors with eagle and dolphins. The first depicting the assassination of Lincoln dated April 1865. The second scrimmed “Saml. Huse to F.C. Warner. U.S.N.“. Together with a walrus tusk scrimmed with a whaling ship and a patriotic eagle titled “A Dead Whale or a Stove Boat.” Also, a whale’s tooth scrimmed with a portrait of Abraham Lincoln within a cartouche of military trophies beneath a patriotic eagle. The reverse with a memoriam of a Confederate soldier depicting a wife and child at his grave. SIZE: Smallest glasses: 2-3/4″ h. Tusk: 7-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From a private California collection.
