W A ROESLER (German/Russian, Late 19th/Early 20th Century) IN THE GARDEN. Outstanding large salon oil on canvas scene shows a mother in spring dress on a stone stairway looking over her daughter who is picking flowers in a low flowerbed. The stairs wind up toward the house and have a sculptured wood limb railing. The whole area is framed in colorful red rose bushes. Signed lower left “W.A. Roesler”. Housed in what appears to be its original pierced carved grape vine gilt frame. SIZE: Overall is 76” x 62-1/2” w. Canvas is 66” h x 52” w. CONDITION: One L-shape repair to canvas, inpainting, generally very good. 9-29866 (20,000-30,000)
