CARVED GILT WOOD DISPLAYED EAGLE. Mid 19th century, America. This nice example carved in deep relief of a displayed eagle facing right. Probably designed as a pediment above a door with nicely gilded surfaces. Carved in pine. SIZE: 9-3/4″ h x 19″ w. PROVENANCE: From a fine coastal Westerly, Rhode Island estate. CONDITION: Generally very good, with minor losses to gilding, proper left wing. With light abrasions throughout commensurate with age. 9-28337 (800-1,200)
