GROUP OF AMERICAN “MOON & STAR” PATTERN GLASS. Late 19th century. Comprising a 9″ dia. circular pedestal cakestand; 8-1/4″ dia. pedestal bowl; two rectangular trays, each 11″ x 6-1/2″; a pair of oval scalloped dishes, each 8″ x 5-1/2″; a round bowl with cover and knop finial, 6-1/2″ overall h.; two spooners, 5-1/2″ and 5-1/4″ respectively; and a 6″ syrup pitcher. Literature: From New Brunswick Museum, website.nbm-mnb.ca/Hetherington/catalogue1.htm: Originally named ‘Palace’ by Adams & Company (about 1888), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; also named ‘Moon & Star’ by the following manufacturers: Wilson Glass Company (about 1890), Co-operative Flint (about 1896), United States Glass Company (1891-1898), and Phoenix Glass Company (about 1937). SIZE: As noted above. PROVENANCE: From a fine home in Bucksport, Maine. CONDITION: Covered bowl with stress fracture in lid at finial. Taller spooner with shell fracture in base.
