BLACK FOREST VICTORIAN MARQUETRY INLAID AND CARVED WALNUT TILT-TOP TABLE. Circa 1875. The central cartouche inlaid with two stags and a fawn, within a border having four oval paterae each inlaid with caribou and mountain goats. All within ebony-inlaid surrounds and marquetry floral vinery, the central section of the top of figured walnut. The turtleback-shaped top with conforming pierce-carved frieze of grapevines hinged on a turned fruit, leaf, and floral-carved tripod base. SIZE: 28-1/2″ h. x 29″ l. x 22″ w. CONDITION: With old cleaned surfaces, tightened and reglued, with old shrinkage crack in standard and a return on one leg repaired. Very good overall. 9-92590 (1,400-1,800)
