EXTREMELY RARE EXPLODING “BATTLESHIP MAINE”. A wonderful child’s toy (?), this replica of the Battleship Maine, appears to be intact, however when the firecracker in the hull explodes, the port and starboard gun batteries, as well as the superstructure fly off, simulating the true fate of “the Maine” in the Havana harbor. Embossed on the side of the ship…”Battleship Maine. Destroyed in Havana Harbor, Feb. 15, 1898.” Toy was originally displayed for many years in the Perelman Toy Museum (Philadelphia, PA). SIZE: 8”.
