JOHN DOWNES WHITING (American, 1886-1977) THE SHORELINE CAMPFIRE. Oil on canvas moonlit scene shows a sailboat on grassy shoreline with two men cooking over a large campfire. The full moon breaks through the white clouds and casts light which is reflected on the water with one sail. Signed lower left. Housed in an antique gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 14″ x 12″.
