THREE JACQUARD “SUMMER-WINTER” COVERLETS. Mid-19th century. The first, a red and white example with alternating rows of floral rosettes, interwoven with birds and floral vinery. The second, a blue and white reversible example with a square center medallion wrought with a central flowerhead, flanked by a pair of birds on a branch within a medallion of scrolling cartouches and leaves, on a deep blue-black field with eight-pointed stars, within a main border of scrolling leaftips, floral bouquets, and lyres, all within a Greek key guard border. The third, an ivory and blue reversible example with a round scrolled foliate center medallion on an ivory field, with fiddlehead ferns and spandrels of floral sprays, the main border of scrolling vinery with laurel wreaths centering urns alternating with floral bouquets, the guard border of diamond latticework. SIZE: FIRST: 80″ x 82-1/2″. SECOND: 90″ x 79-1/2″. THIRD: 79″ x 88″. CONDITION: All coverlets very good overall. 9-93931 (1,000-1,800)
