TWO COVERLETS. 19th century. The first, a Pennsylvania quilt in greens, reds, yellow, and pink, three rows of three floral sprays each, on an ivory ground with scrolling floral vinery border. The second wrought with a square of polychrome diamond-shaped patches forming a seven-sided radiating starburst within a cotton print border of birds and flowering trees; ends folded and stitched to allow its hanging on a wall. SIZE: FIRST: 92″ x 91″. SECOND: 102″ x 81″. PROVENANCE: From a coastal Maine estate. CONDITION: The first in very good condition overall, with very minor staining. The second with considerable weakness and deterioration to the brown patches in center and design of quilt. 9-93932 (800-1,200)
