MAJOR GENERAL’S FROCK COAT. Late 19th century dbl-breasted coat is converted to Major General’s coat by sewing up 2 buttonholes, leaving 3 groups of 3 buttons, which a major General should have had, with Major General shoulder boards and Goodwin patent US staff buttons. Coat is black wool with velvet faced collar and cuffs. Coat is 8-1/2” at elbow, and 6” at cuff. Coat is lined in black cotton lining. Sleeves are lined in decorated white cotton. CONDITION: Overall very good. Velvet facings still have most of their shine. No discernible mothing. Minor soiling. 4-56241 JS258 (200-400)
