AIME MILLET (French, 1819-1891) “THE DISCONSOLATE ARIADNE”. 2nd half 19th century. Bronze with olive patina depicting a kneeling partially robed woman leaning on a rocky outcropping continuing to a molded square plinth with canted corners. Signed at base of rock outcropping “AIME MILLET SC”. Stamped on edge of plinth beneath right knee foundry mark “OUDIN” (Marseille). Titled at midpoint front of outcropping “APIAANH”. SIZE: 13-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Nice olive green patina, very good overall. Old and minor surface scratches including tiny nick in hair, otherwise very good. 9-95328 (2,000-3,000)
