FINE DIMINUTIVE SCANDINAVIAN PAINT-DECORATED IRONBOUND TRUNK. Circa 1840. The rectangular pine trunk with hinged dome lid, original iron strapping, escutcheon, and carrying handles, painted overall with polychrome “fish eye” decorations, centering indigo blue diamonds with ochre borders on a salmon ground. SIZE: 15″ h. x 24-1/2″ w. x 18″ d. CONDITION: Very good overall, with original painted decoration and hardware. Wear and fading commensurate with age. Hasp and lock absent. 9-93190 (800-1,200)
