TWO MEISSEN COMPOTES AND SIX DISHES. 19th – 20th century. German. First compote decorated with leaf tips alternating in ivory and gilding on a gothic style base together with 4 small matching plates. Second compote similarly decorated with inner circle of leaves in green enamel. Two Meissen plates decorated with exotic birds alternating with diaper work cartouches all centering a floral rosette. Crossed swords with underglaze blue on all pieces. SIZE: First compote: 4-3/4″ h x 9-1/2 dia. Matching plates: 7-1/2″ dia. Second compote: 6-1/2″ h x 11-1/4″ dia. 2 plates: 7-1/4″ dia. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: First compote has been altered by shortening, otherwise good. Matching dishes with minor and minimal wear to gilded edges and with some roughness to serrated edges of leaves. Otherwise good. Second compote with round nut attaching plate to stand with wear to gilt edges and with old small chip to leaf tip. Otherwise good.
