TWO MEISSEN CUPID FIGURES. 19th – 20th century. German. Each on a triangular plinth. First titled “Je les balance.”, depicting cupid inspecting arrow, a quiver on his left hip. Second titled “Je blesse et soulage.”, depicting cupid washing hearts and arrow on a pedestal within a large billowing cloud. Incised “F 2” + “F 14”. Impressed mark “78” + “144”. Painted in black “39” + “34”. Crossed swords in underglaze blue. SIZE: 5-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: The first with damage and repair to arrow.
