ELIZABETHAN REVIVAL ARCHITECTURAL TABERNACLE. Early 19th century, Continental. The gilt decorated and painted double door small cupboard fitted with a pair of carved doors, each with three panels. The central oval panels the first carved with a chalice and a Eucharist the second carved with the “lamb of God” beneath the banner. Each door flanked by square carved panels of saints and other religious symbols, all on a starry field. The cabinet, once a part of a larger piece. SIZE: 25-1/2″h x 16-1/2″w x 15-1/2″d (overall). PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: Painted surfaces good, structure in need of strengthening. 9-24579 (600-800)
