RARE AND EXCEPTIONAL HEART SHAPED LOVE TOKEN. Circa 1854-1858, Boston, Massachusetts. This wonderful well figured tiny maple burl love token, fully carved and polished in the shape of a heart. Retained within its original presentation box. The label reads “FESSENDEN BROS./ WATCHES & JEWELRY/ 205 WASHINGTON ST./ Corner of Bromfield/ Boston.” Note: Fessenden brothers operated in Boston from 1854 to 1858, subsequently relocating to Providence, RI, where they were in business from 1858 to 1922. Related document accompanies this lot. SIZE: Heart token: 7/8″ h x 3/4″ w. Box: 1/2″ h x 1-5/8″ l x 1″ w. CONDITION: Box and token each in very fine condition. The token with original finish and excellent patina, the box with original paper covering and crisp label also in excellent condition. 9-27821 (800-1,200)
