LOT OF TWO FINE ANTIQUE EUROPEAN SWORDS. SN NSN. Group consists of a finely cast and chiseled transition rapier possibly Dutch circa 1640 with fine pierced blade and three fullers. The guard cast and shaped in relief with human figures as well as angles and fawns. A hilt chiseled with a horse and rider and pommel is chiseled with grotesque masks. Grip finely bound in copper chain with copper Turk’s heads. The cup hilt rapier comprehensively 19th century cup cast and pieced with dogs and winged monsters, pommel with acanthus leaves spirally wire bound grip and hilt of characteristic D-guard form with long extended quillions.
