FINE FREDERIC REMINGTON BRONZE “BRONCO BUSTER”. Fine recast of the very popular Frederic Remington bronze “Bronco Buster” mounted on a dark green oval marble base, 22-1/2″ high including base x about 20″ long nose to tail and about 10″ wide across the base. The image is of an 1870s/1880s American cowboy with hat that has its brim turned up in the front wearing neckerchief and pullover shirt with chaps, boots & spurs and a belt& 3-loop holster with 6-gun. He is riding a square skirt, slick-fork saddle with saddle bags and bent wood stirrups clutching the horse’s mane with only a hackamore around horse’s lower jaw. The horse is in the act of bucking and the cowboy has lost his right stirrup and likely won’t be long in the saddle. The quirt that the cowboy is supposed to be holding in his right hand is missing. The foundry who owned the molds for the Frederic Remington bronzes continued to cast them long after Mr. Remington’s death, until the molds wore out. This one is one of the better recasts with reasonably sharp features & details. The base of the bronze is marked “Frederic Remington”. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bronze is complete except for the missing quirt and retains about all of its orig brown patina. 4-40607 JR192 (500-1,500)
