EARLY ENGLISH MADE STONE BOW. SN NSN. 25″ File decorated steel bow is mounted in steel straps affixed to 26″ molded and fluted rosewood straight stock with turned mahogany end. Folding sighting arrangement is at front. Three aperture rear sight, marked “Iohnson Wigan”, which folds down into cocking and firing mechanism. Long cocking handle folds into rear of stock and is retained by sliding square ring. Stone bed is inlet with decoratively filed engraved brass plate. Bow string is an old reproduction, fitted with turned bone spreaders. Bow comes with later brass and hardwood bolt adapter. CONDITION: Good. Iron parts are cleaned brown patina over scattered pitting. Stock has a few long cracks. Firing mechanism will not cock. Bow string is good. 4-40207 MGM186 (3,000-5,000)
