UNSIGNED (Early 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF BENJAMIN DISRAELI AGE 23 YRS. Benjamin Disraeli (British, 1804-1881) was the first Jewish Prime Minister of England and was responsible for bringing India and the Suez Canal under control of the crown. Fine watercolor shows young man seated in Sheraton armchair holding open book in lap. He wears a black coat, white shirt with flower pin and bow tie. Blue eyes with red mouth and brown curly hair. Extremely well executed. Housed in its original molded wood gold frame. SIZE: Sight: 6” x 5”. CONDITION: Bottom margin has flecked paper loss. A couple of spots in bottom of chair.
