ATTRIBUTED TO NANCY ELIZABETH PROPHET (AMERICAN, 1890 – 1960) TENDING TO THE CHORES. Stained wood sculpture of a black man standing holding on to a natural straw broom. Unsigned but having been found in Providence, Rhode Island and thought to have been made by the artist. Unfortunately, very few of this African American artist’s sculptures are known. SIZE: 27″ h. CONDITION: Loss to stained surface in areas. A central age crack. otherwise very good. 9-97321 (800-1,200)
