REGENCY PAPIER-MACHE TILT TOP TABLE. Mid 19th Century. The oval top with stepped and scalloped edge decorated with a border of painted C-scrolls, the center inlaid with Abalone and painted to depict a floral filled urn within a similarly inlaid and gilt-heightened border of vinery. Hinged and tilting on a bulbous standard, painted and inlaid with garlands, joined to a stepped, circular scalloped plinth. Decorated with inlaid and painted floral sprays raised on three scrolled feet. SIZE: 28-3/4″h. Top; 28-1/2 x 24-1/2″. PROVENANCE: From a fine Beacon Hill, Massachusetts & Thomaston, Maine Estate. CONDITION: Very nice original condition. Crackling to surface of table top. Small chips to underside of table top edge. Repair to one leg. Retains original hardware. 9-93629 (800-1,200)
