PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH PAINT-DECORATED DOME TOP TRUNK. Mid 19th Century. Dome top chest with domed lid, polychrome decorated overall. Lid painted with floral filled urn, bordered by scrolling vinery. Front with two tombstone panels, each with pair of fanciful birds perched on flowers emitting from urn centering heart shape device with single tulip. Front of chest additionally decorated with “1856” above “B.B.”. Ends of trunk mounted with iron carrying handles and paint-decorated with floral vinery centering heart. Interior with original paper lining. SIZE: 14-3/4″ h x 30″ l x 15″ d. CONDITION: Very good overall with original painted surfaces, structurally very good, dome top with old shrinkage separations to boards. 9-23712 (500-900)
