SIX GEORGIAN CARVED MAHOGANY DINING CHAIRS. Second half 18th century. The five matching side chairs, each with scrolling molded crest rail and scrolled ears above the molded interwoven Gothic pierced splat, joined to the trapezoidal seat rail, each with needlework seat cover, raised on chamfered square legs, joined by recessed box stretcher. The armchair, similar to the side chairs with downscrolled ears and crimped interwoven splat, the molded serpentine arms on incurved supports, the trapezoidal slip seat with needlework, the chair raised on square chamfered legs with recessed box stretcher. SIZE: Armchair: 37-1/2″ h. of back. Each side chair: 36-1/2″ h. of back. CONDITION: The side chairs with old dark finish, old inactive insect damage, and a repair to one crest.
