NICE REGENCY MAHOGANY POLE SCREEN. Late 18th Century. The rectangular screen, fitted with a needlework panel, wrought in silk with bees centering an eagle’s head beneath a royal crown, gripping an emblematic cross in beak. The adjustable panel mounted on a pole continuing to a fluted and reeded standard, tobacco leaf carved and joined to a circular, molded plinth, carved with rays with a gadrooned edge. SIZE: 55-1/2″h (overall); screen 15-1/2″h x 11-1/2″w. PROVENANCE: From a fine coastal Maine collection. CONDITION: All original with nice color and patina. Screen is original and faded. Foundation is now coffee colored. No major deterioration in fabric. 9-93915 (600-900)
