SET OF REPRODUCTION CAPTAIN’S SEALS FOR WHALING LOG. 20th Century. Three seals each identifying specific type of whale (“Sperm”, “Blue”, “Finn”) housed in custom made whale bone box with cover. Scrimshaw box identifying owner as “CAPT DANA FLYNN”, opposing side identifying ship as “ESSEX”, home port as “NEW BEDFORD MASS”. Each seal is also identified with name of ship and port engraved on the top, side of each seal marked with owner’s initials “D.F.” and each seal engraved with whale it portrays. SIZE: 3″ h x 4″ l.
