TWO SHIP’S CLOCK/BAROMETER DESK SETS; ONE A CHELSEA EXAMPLE. First half 20th century. Both in the form of ship’s wheels mounted on bases. The first, a Chelsea ship’s bell movement, together with an aneroid barometer and thermometer similarly mounted in brass case with ship’s wheel, mounted on a copper plinth with ball feet, engraved “TO/’GERRY’/WITH THE/APPRECIATION AND FRIENDSHIP/OF THE/NORTHWEST BUICK DISTRIBUTORS” and further inscribed with the signatures of co-workers. The second example, a Seth Thomas eight-day ship’s bell clock mounted together with a Taylor Co. “STORMOGUIDE” barometer, both in cylindrical brass cases with ship’s wheel mounts joined to a wooden molded plinth. SIZE: FIRST: 8-1/2″ h. x 15″ overall l. SECOND: 9″ h. x 18-1/4″ overall l. CONDITION: Both appear to be in original condition, with little or no corrosion. The interiors not examined.
