TWO MEISSEN FLOWER GIRLS. Third quarter 19th century through first quarter 20th century. German. Each figure of girl carrying a basket of cut flowers suspended from her shoulder. First with pale blue bodice and pale pink shoes on a circular plinth with crenelated gilt border. Second with purple bodice and purple shoes on a circular scrolling plinth. Each with “lace Dresden” details. Incised on both “C72”. Impressed mark “155” + “15 and 42” respectively. Painted in black “49” + “87” respectively. Crossed swords in underglaze blue on both. SIZE: 6-1/4″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: First: with shallow chips to hat brim, small losses to leaves and petals in basket, chips to base rim of plinth. Second: Overall very good. Both with small losses to lace detail. 9-24508 (1,200-1,800)
