SMALL SIZE HENRY DERINGER C. CURRY AGENT MARKED PERCUSSION PISTOL. SN NONE. Cal. 42. Tiny pocket sized Deringer pistol with 1-3/4″ ovoid shaped bbl, dovetailed German silver front sight and fixed rear sight on top tang. Rear end of bbl and rear edge of breech plug have German silver inlaid bands. Top flat of breech plug and lockplate are marked “DERINGER / PHILADELA” and top left flat of breech plug has the sunburst “P” proof. Top flat of bbl is marked “C. CURRY / SAN FRANCO CALA / AGENT”. Mounted in a 1-pc walnut stock with checkered bird head grip and German silver furniture. Lockplate, hammer, top tang and trigger guard are very nicely engraved in foliate arabesque patterns with a pineapple finial on trigger plate. Bbl is secured with sgl wedge through bow tie escutcheons engraved to match. Butt of grip has a hinged lid cap box and top of wrist has an empty shield shaped thumb plate with light engraving. Another very popular pistol made by Mr. Deringer. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains about all of its strong orig brown finish on the bbl with some silver streaks remaining. Stock has a hairline in the toe and shows heavy wear with a repaired crack on right side of grip. Breech plug, lockplate & hammer are a dark brown patina.
