STERLING SILVER FANCY CENTER BOWL. The footed bowl having a gold wash and center “S” monogram. The open work sides having sixteen 2″ oval medallions draped with roses having alternating scenes of musical instruments and frolicking children. WEIGHT: 22 tr. oz. SIZE: 4″ h x 9″ dia. PROVENANCE: This bowl was purchased at a charity auction about 40 years ago with a note that said “Likely Farraguts”. We believe this bowl to be from Loyall Farragut Sewell, a prominent Maine attorney whose family built 104 sailing vessels in Bath, Maine from 1823-1903. He was known to be a collector of marine artifacts & other treasures. CONDITION: Very good, loss to gold wash. 9-24801 (500-800)
