SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1884 TRAPDOOR RIFLE. SN 457903. Cal .45-70. 32-5/8″ bbl with Buffington rear sight. Breech section has “VP” and eagle head markings. Case colored breech block marked “US/MODEL/1884”, lock is marked “U.S./SPRINGFIELD” with American Eagle stamping. Walnut stock with cartouche on left side “LMP/1889”. Bottom of stock is marked “U” and circle “P” cartouche. CONDITION: Very fine. 95% orig bbl blue with some wear near the muzzle. Front ring of receiver has blue blending with patina. Lock and small parts have 90% orig blue. Breech block has vivid case colors. Crisp mechanics and a bright shiny bore. 4-40848 DS58 (2,000-3,000)
