EXTRAORDINARY CARVED OAK LECTERN. Last third 19th century, New England. The full body displayed eagle, the plumage carved in deep relief with partially open pronounced beak perched on a sphere joined to a turned pedestal on faceted molded octagonal plinth. The back of the eagle mounted with a conforming frame with book rest at bottom. SIZE: 69-1/2″ h x 28″ w. CONDITION: Lectern with original surfaces, now with dark brown color and patina. With old repairs to wings at juncture of body, and to wingtips. Tail reattached. Old repair to proper left foot above talons. Upper beak reattached to head.
