COLT SPECIAL MODEL 1861 CONTRACT US PERCUSSION RIFLE MUSKET. SN NSN. Cal .58. 40″ rnd bbl. Bbl has 1863 date on top, “VP” over Eagle’s head marking on left flat and “M STEEL” on left side. Lock is marked “U.S/COLT’S PT. F.A.Mfg. Co/HARTFORD Ct”, and dated 1863. Walnut stock with two cartouches on the left side. Accompanied by a wooden muzzle plug. CONDITION: Very good. Metal is cleaned bright with scattered very light corrosion. Sound stock with light cartouches and considerable finish wear and handling marks.
