ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This gun is the seven groove rifling variation. This lot is accompanied by a proper sword bayonet and scabbard. The bayonet has a bright blade with ribbed brass grip. The Ordnance inspection mark “B.H.” is stamped on the top flat of the grip, and “C” stamped on right side of guard. The scabbard has a leather body with brass throat and tip with “H” inspection mark on the hanger. The bayonet and scabbard are in excellent original condition.

REMINGTON MODEL 1863 “ZOUAVE” PERCUSSION CONTRACT RIFLE. SN NSN. Cal .58. Rnd 33″ blued bbl with “US/VP” proofs at breech. 1863 date on the bbl tang. Left side of bbl stamped “STEEL” followed by “B.H.” inspectors mark. Two folding leaf rear sight, two brass bbl bands and large bayonet lug. Brass patchbox, buttplate and trigger guard. Cased colored lock having 1863 date with American Eagle over “U.S.” and the “REMINGTON’S/ILION,N.Y.” marking. Walnut stock with “HDJ” and “BH” cartouches on the left side opposite the lock. CONDITION: Very fine. Very good bbl blue mixed with widely scattered very light spotting from surface corrosion. Brass parts have very mellow patina taking on an orange tone. Lock has light case colors in the protected areas blending with patina. Sound stock with very good finish, sharp cartouches and normal handling marks.
