TRYON CONTRACT MODEL 1841 “MISSISSIPPI” U.S. PERCUSSION RIFLE. SN NSN. Cal .54. 33″ rnd bbl marked at breech “US/SM/VP”. Left side of bbl has “N.J”, “Steel” and “K” markings. Lock markings are “TRYON/US” forward of the hammer “PHILADA/PA/1848” behind hammer. Brass forend cap, bbl band, trigger guard, patchbox and buttplate. Walnut stock with two cartouches on the left side. CONDITION: Good. Bbl has a heavy brown patina with spots worn bright. Lock has smooth patina finish. All brass parts are uncleaned with good patina. Stock has chips behind the bbl tang with considerable wear and handling marks. Good mechanics and bright bore with light corrosion. 4-40854 DS55 (2,500-3,500)
