ROCOCO REVIVAL PATINATED METAL ANEROID BAROMETER. Third quarter 19th century, English. Ornate case cast with putti at play eating grapes above a plethora of grape vines continuing to a trophy mount with torch and quiver of arrows centering the silvered dial marked “METALLIC BAROMETER” flanked by two illegible award marks, one for the receipt of the gold metal and the second signifying participation in a Universal Exhibition in London 1851(?). Barometric mechanism mounted within the open dial beneath a brass bezel with beveled glass. SIZE: 13-1/2″ h x 10-3/4″ w. CONDITION: Mechanism appears to be in operable condition. Patinated metal showing normal and expected wear to brown patination. Dial with extensive corrosion and discoloration. Otherwise good. 9-24820 (1,000-2,000)
