UNSIGNED (English 19th Century) PAIR OF ENGLISH FARM/TAVERN SCENES. Identically housed in gesso decorated frames with glass fronts and gilt lining. The oil on canvas scenes show a large thatch roof building with men, women and children outside. A variety of horses are seen and other farm animals including chickens, dogs and donkey. The scenes have trees and far away fields all under blue white cloud sky. Very much in the Herring style. Both frames retain an Antoine’s Art Gallery Montreal label. SIZE: 9” x 13”. CONDITION: Craquelure, otherwise very good. 9-90091 SM (1,800-2,400)
