NEW ENGLAND FEDERAL PAINT-DECORATED TALL CASE CLOCK. First quarter 19th century, probably Maine. Grain-decorated overall in shades of brown. The case with swan’s neck pediment above the arched door flanked by freestanding colonnettes opening to a wood dial painted with a memorial monument with classical urn flanked by poplars. The Roman numeral and Arabic chapter rings within gilt decorated foliate spandrels. With weight driven wood movement striking on a bell. The throat with panel door and simulated stringing joined to the cove-molded box base raised on shaped bracket feet. Clock is minus weights and pendulum. SIZE: 82-1/2″ h. 12″ w of throat. 10″ d. CONDITION: Dial and movement original, grained surfaces mostly intact. Generally good. 9-90418 (800-1,200)
