NEW ENGLAND FEDERAL CHERRY TALL CASE CLOCK. Mid-19th century. The arched serpentine crest centering a floral rosette flanked by pineapple finials, the bonnet with free-standing colonnettes centering the arched astragal door. The brass movement, probably English, with moon phase auxiliary dial, the silvered main dial with brass backplate having Roman and Arabic chapter rings and a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture, and time and strike apertures. The bottom of the dial marked in script “Greenough Parr”. The case fitted with a rectangular door, incurved corners, and diamond-shaped bone escutcheon, flanked by engaged spool-turned quarter-columns above the molded box base, raised on tall thin bracket feet with scalloped returns. Weights and pendulum present. SIZE: 85″ h. x 16″ overall w. x 9-1/2″ d. CONDITION: The works in need of cleaning and adjustment. The moon phase dial repainted.
