HASKELL & ALLEN (American, Publisher, 19th Century) “GOING TO THE TROT”. Large colored folio print shows a number of two and one-horse sulkies and wagons with riders on a wide dirt thoroughfare. Dated “1872”, titled on bottom margin. Housed in a period molded wood partially gilt frame. Along with a Currier & Ives black and white “View of Harpers Ferry, VA” (from the Potomac Side). Housed in a gilt molded wood frame. SIZE: Sight: 21″ x 27-1/2″. C & I sight: 15-1/2″ x 19-1/2″. PROVENANCE: E. P. George Estate of Boston, MA and Thomaston, ME. CONDITION: Not examined out of frame. Margins appear to be intact. The piece is unrestored having a crease in right margin, overall toning with some losses to lower left margin, stained. C & I with losses to margin, bottom title margin present, good. 9-93636 (500-1,000)
